Control your Mac via Twitter??

Interesting new tool called TweetMyMac that allows you to remotely control your Mac via a dedicated twitter account.  Read about it on Lifehacker.

Snow Leopard continues to impress me with it’s responsiveness…definitely worth the $29 upgrade…

MacBook & the missing photos

Our new MacBook arrived two weeks ago and since then we have been exploring the strange new world of Mac.  The transition to Mac almost feels traitorous since I have been a PC guy through and through since moving on from the early computers that my Dad brought into our house–such as the Coleco Adam and the Commodore 64.

To be honest however, and this is such a cliche, but the MacBook really does just work…

The only app that I actually miss right now is Picasa.  I know it is available for Mac but I figured I should try to work with iPhoto for a while before I decide on which app I like best.   And since my MacBook arrived on Jan 8th, I was able to upgrade to iLife ‘09 for a nominal $13 fee.  The added features of faces and places, as well as the integration of Flickr (where we post our photos) should put iPhoto ‘09 on par with the functionality I am used to in Picasa.

Speaking of photos and Flickr you might have noticed that I have yet to post all the great photos I mentioned from our Christmas / New Years Holiday.  Based on the comment above that iPhoto ‘09 will integrate Flickr uploading I decided to be lazy and wait for the new version to arrive in the next few weeks instead of installing one of the “unofficial” plugins…

Happy 30th Darren!

Darren officially enters his Carlsberg years today…

I’m still way behind on updating our photos from before Christmas through to New Years as I have been working on getting the new MacBook setup with all of our data from the PC (e.g. music & 16000+ photos). I’m looking forward to the new features of iLife 09 to ease the posting of our photos direct to Flickr.

Tomorrow…is it here yet?

My new MacBook arrives tomorrow…  yeehaw!  On a related note, is anyone interested in our Dell Dimension 5150 desktop (2.8ghz Dual Core, 1gb ram, 250gb hd)?

It also almost pains me to say this, but man am I happy to be back on Rogers Highspeed internet…. after switching to Primus almost a year ago for their bundle deal (dsl, home phone, unlimited long distance) we finally snapped and had to go back to Rogers as the dsl service was terrible.  We really did feel like we were living in that commercial where the guy is trying to show an online video to his buddy but it’s choppy and jagged the entire time…  enough was enough.

What a start…

Happy New Year to all and I hope your 2009 is off to a great start.  Here’s a quick recap of the last 10 or so days:

1.  Celebrated our 10th, yes TENTH New Year’s bash in Buckhorn (affectionately known as Buckmas)
2.  Braden hit his athletic stride with conquering both skating and skiing on his own!
3.  Go CANADA Go!  I hope you watched last night’s exciting game!  Without cable at the cabin we managed to pickup a neighbours open wireless network and watch the entire game live on justin.tv

I’m currently working on rescuing a ridiculous volume of photos from our Canon so keep an eye for various photo documentaries of the above highlights and many more in the days to come.

Oh, and I also jumped from the PC to MAC ship as I purchased a new MacBook (come on Canada Post, get it here quickly!)
