Our Vancouver 2010 trip…in the news???
James Keller, a journalist with The Canadian Press tracked me down from my tweets and blog post yesterday on our Vancouver 2010 ticket purchases. We chatted earlier today and his article is now online…feel free to take a read.
Olympic ticket sales strong, say organizers
By James Keller, THE CANADIAN PRESSVANCOUVER, B.C. – Todd Warnell already had a healthy selection of tickets for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, including men’s and women’s hockey, curling, and a medal ceremony.
But the 31-year-old Toronto resident still had some time to kill during his planned one-week stay in Vancouver for the Games, so he sat down at his computer over the weekend for the second round of ticket sales.
David = 2010 Olympics?
My brother-in-law David is continuing to rip up the Ski Cross circuit by capturing 1st place at Red Mountain last week in the NORAM Western Canadian Ski Cross Championship. Considering that David only took up the challenge of competing in Ski Cross at the end of January makes this victory even more impressive. He’s competing today in the Canadian Ski Cross Championship in Calgary–so wish him luck. As insane as this sounds there is an outside chance that David could actually make the Canadian Freestyle team and compete in the Olympic debut of Ski Cross at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics (an event that we already have tickets for!)
Here are the results from the Red Mountain website:

The “Glen” Breton lives…
Back in April I commented on the legal defeat that Glenora Distilleries had been dealt that would have forced them to remove “Glen” from the brand name of their Glen Breton single-malt scotch whisky. This tiny scotch producer based in Cape Breton is the only single-malt scotch producer in North America and the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) had sued them to rename their product as it was “misleading” as the term “Glen” falsely indicated that the product originated in Scotland.
Fortunately the Federal Court of Appeals did not side with the SWA so the Cape Breton producer gets to keep it’s name as is.
On a related note, I have had the opportunity to sample Glen Breton 10 year old and it is a surprisingly smooth scotch for it’s age.
Happy 90th Birthday!!

Check out this story in today’s Globe & Mail that reports on the first criminal conviction for injuring the Ozone Layer.
iPhone 3G…WOW!
Just followed along with the WWDC announcements and the 3G iPhone looks damn impressive!!! And with a worldwide price ceiling of $199 for the 8GB version they will be flying off the shelf. All we need now is what Rogers is setting the monthly service fee at so that Canadians can finally get rolling with the iPhone (officially of course).
Happy 1/2 Year Birthday Sarah!
Sarah is 6 months old today!!!
Welcome to Aidan James!
Congrats to Monica’s cousin Griff & wife Becca on the birth of their first born Aidan James on Tuesday, May 27th!
Congrats Ivan & Lesley!
Congrats to Ivan & Lesley on their engagement on Saturday!
It was great to get the official “email” from Ivan confirming that it was in fact true as the facebook rumour-mill was in full swing prior to their official announcement.
