Vancouver 2010 Adventure: Our Recap
With the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games now officially concluded I finally have some time to unglue myself from the TV and to provide a few reflections on the time we spent at the Games.
First of all, our plethora of photos doesn’t effectively tell the whole story as they don’t capture the sheer electricity, excitement and joy that the entire city of Vancouver was experiencing throughout the Games. It was unlike anything I have ever experienced and I would imagine that I likely will never experience that same joy on such a massive city-wide scale again in my lifetime.
Second reflection is that, as silly as this sounds, our trip would have been entirely different had we NOT brought those beer case hats with us.
Wherever we went, we were “minor” celebrities as everyone wanted to talk about our hats, take photos of us in our hats, ask if they could wear our hats… it was hilarious. A few days in people were reporting that they saw other people at events wearing these hats, but alas it was always us.
Third reflection is simply a heartfelt THANK YOU to the thousands upon thousands of Vancouver 2010 “Bluecoat” volunteers. They were tremendous–always there when you needed them, unwaveringly happy, and the Games simply would not have been the same without you!
Here’s a quick recap of our 7-day trip so that you have some context to the photos in each album. Enjoy!

Vancouver 2010 Olympic Photos…
Our days so far in Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games have been unbelievable!!!! I haven’t had much time to actually write full posts on the blog as I’ve been working on getting the photos online as fast as possible and throwing in the occasional Tweet. I’ve managed to post Day 1 & 2 and I’m working on the Day 3 photos as I type this… I’ll add to the collection on Flickr each day so check back to see our latest and greatest photos:
It’s Almost Time!
It’s hard to believe that the Olympic Torch Relay is nearing the end of it’s incredible journey across Canada! This video clip is a brilliant summary of the adventure thus far–and I can only imagine what the next 17 days of Olympic competition will bring!
Vancouver 2010 Tickets are HERE!
I thought reality hit home yesterday when the countdown to Vancouver 2010 hit the one-month mark until the Opening Ceremonies. However, reality that the Games are drawing near truly hit a new plane today when our tickets arrived!!! It’s hard to believe that we first embarked on piecing together this experience of a lifetime back in October 2008–yes 2008–when we placed our first order for the ticket lottery. Now with less than one-month until the 21st Winter Olympic Games get underway the arrival of these rather brilliant and beautiful looking tickets really symbolizes the end of the “planning our trip” and shifts us into intense excitement and anticipation for the lifetime experience to come…
Vancouver 2010: Thornbury Torch Relay Photos
We took in the Vancouver 2010 Torch Relay this morning as it passed through Thornbury, Ontario on a wintery, chilly morning. With snow squalls rolling through and a wind chill of -20C we bundled up our munchkins and took up shop on Hwy 26 to become part of the epic Torch Relay on the way to Vancouver 2010.
With only 49 days left until we find ourselves actually in Vancouver for the Games, this morning’s torch relay truly stoked the fire of our own excitement and anticipation!!!
Vancouver 2010 Resale Site WORKS!
With the various purchasing phases for Vancouver 2010 tickets we ended up with a conflict that overlapped a Women’s Play-off Round hockey game with the Speed Skating tickets we picked up in the June Phase II sale. With this known overlap I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Vancouver 2010 long-promised resale site and alas with it’s launch today we managed to sell the hockey tickets in less than 5 hours.
Only issue I have with the site is that we have to wait until possibly the end of April 2010 to actually get paid for tickets we sold…
I also tried to sell tickets for one of the Victory Ceremonies–but with VANOC still left with their own inventory I wasn’t allowed to offer these for resale yet…
T-Minus 2 Months!
Two Months from today we’re in Vancouver taking in our first Olympic event–Men’s Curling! Richard & Kristin will be watching the epic battle between Finland and China in Women’s Hockey…
Last piece of the Vancouver 2010 puzzle…
I just completed the last piece (at least I hope the last piece) of our Vancouver 2010 planning puzzle by purchasing our “Olympic Bus Network” passes for the two events that we have at Cypress Mountain (Men’s Ski Cross & Men’s Aerials). And with the Olympics actually opening exactly TWO months from today the countdown is truly beginning to set in!!!!
Vancouver 2010 Tickets….seats now allocated!
I just logged into my Vancouver 2010 account and stumbled upon the exciting fact that the actual seats are now allocated…. so instead of just knowing we have a “Level B” ticket, we now know exactly where we’re sitting in each of the venues…
I haven’t had the chance to fully review how great / how poor our tickets are…but just having the info is exciting!
UPDATED – Woohoo…. I just peeked at our tickets for the CAN – USA hockey game… 100 level and ROW 4….
